Swachh Rail-Swachh Bharat programme is in full swing over Waltair Division. The swachhta pakhwada is observed this year from 16th to 30th September-2021. During the pakhwada regular intensive campaigns/ drives are being conducted with the sole objective to achieve significant and sustainable improvements in cleanliness standards. Today the drive was “Swachh Station” campaign, during which major stations and all mail/express trains were covered with involvement of officers and staff of Waltair Division. Today Chief Commercial Manager ( Passenger Management) Shri P C Sahu and Chief General Engineer Shri Victor Joseph/ East Coast Railway inspected the Visakhapatnam railway station to monitor effective implementation of Swachhta abhiyan.

The objectives of Swachh Station programme :-

• Intensive mechanized cleaning at stations.
• Cleanliness of washable aprons at stations.
• Cleanliness at Pay and Use toilets
• Rag picking and Garbage disposal inspection
• Awareness on plastic bottle crushing machines
• Enforcement of Indian Railways (Penalties for activities affecting cleanliness at railway premises) Rules, 2012
• Use of CCTV to monitor cleanliness.

On 18.09.2021 Divisional Railway Manager, Waltair Shri Anup Satpathy interacted with the passengers in General Compartments of Samata express to promote the Swatchhata Abhiyan and tried to know their grievances if any, suggestions and feedback on the facilities & services by Railways. While interacting with the passengers in the general coaches and on the platform of Visakhapatnam station, DRM advised them to adopt the Swachhta in and around their area and join hands with the Railways in the mission for cleanliness to serve them better. On Swachchta Abhiyan Mission, DRM Shri Anup Satpathy tried to have the suggestions, advice, innovative ideas from the travelling public for the better implementation of Swachchta Abhiyan.
